Ink Business Preferred Credit Card review - versatile rewards for savvy businesses

Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card

Our review
The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card Credit Card is a well-rounded option for small business owners, offering a strong combination of earning potential and practical benefits. With its robust rewards structure and reasonable annual fee, it's a card that can provide significant value for many businesses.
The card's earning structure is particularly noteworthy: 3X points per $1 on the first $150,000 (after hitting the $150,000, 1X points) spent in combined purchases on travel, shipping, internet, cable and phone services, and advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year. For businesses that spend heavily in these categories, this can translate to substantial rewards accumulation.
While the $95 annual fee is a consideration, the card's benefits often outweigh this cost for businesses that can take advantage of them. The sign-up bonus, which is typically one of the more generous offers in the business card space, can provide immediate value that often exceeds several years' worth of annual fees.
One of the card's strengths is its integration with the Chase Ultimate Rewards program. Points can be redeemed for cash back, used for travel bookings through Chase's portal, or transferred to airline and hotel partners. This flexibility allows businesses to choose the redemption option that best suits their needs.
Additional benefits like cell phone protection (when you pay your bill with the card), travel insurance, and purchase protection add further value, especially for businesses that rely heavily on telecommunications or frequent travel. However, it's worth noting that if your business doesn't align with the bonus spending categories, you might not maximize the card's potential. Additionally, while the travel protections are solid, this isn't a card for luxury travel perks like lounge access.
Is it worth it?
For many small businesses, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card Credit Card offers excellent value. Its strong earning rate in common business spending categories, coupled with the flexibility of the Ultimate Rewards program, makes it a versatile tool for business owners. The card is particularly beneficial for businesses that spend significantly on travel, shipping, internet, cable, phone services, or online advertising, and those that value the ability to choose between cash back and travel rewards. However, businesses with limited spending in the bonus categories or those seeking premium travel perks might want to explore other options.
